Located in downtown Ferndale, SOHO is one uber stylish room for cocktails. Dominated by high ceilings and metallic silver cement walls – a la Andy Warhol – running throughout the lounge, this red hot little joint caters predominantly
to gay and lesbian clientele. However, I arrived with my neighbors, both lesbians, and found SOHO to be somewhat ‘straight friendly’.
Behind the bar rests a rather large and beautiful lighting display, casting a red glow over all the festivities, while fashion forward music keeps things sanguine and sexy. SOHO is about having fun and meeting people, and I did both.
On Tuesday nights, enjoy ‘Wines on Nine’, hosted by Winebuys.com. Wines by the glass are only $3.50 and come with complimentary cheese and crackers. The girls and I arrived on a Friday to discover $5 martinis all night long. Uh Oh. Twenty dollars in and I was ready to become a lesbian myself.
Sundays and Wednesdays are karaoke, Monday nights boast 75 cent beer – is that possible? – and a Versace red pool table lingers invitingly near the front of the room, for all you hustlas out there.
