For the best in independent cinema few are better than Landmark’s Main Art Theatre. Located in downtown Royal Oak the Main Art offers some of the world’s most important and entertaining films. This is where directors Coppola, Lynch, Korrine and Gallo can be seen in an atmosphere similar to where Woody Allen’s characters always seems to be stealing away for a matinee in his movies.

Beautifully restored and well maintained the Main Art also screens midnight movies, cult classics and is friend to local filmmakers, hosting ‘opening nights’ and film festivals. The theatre supports local artists and are known for its monthly showcases and exhibitions in the retro lounge.

While the Main’s high-end concession stand comes complete with hot, fresh popcorn, hand made chocolates and gourmet coffee, it hasn’t forgotten the true cineaste, who loves snowcaps and raisonettes. And, the friendly staff and good service go a long way in rounding out any film experience.
