God of Carnage
Two Muses Theatre | April 10-26 (weekends)
Gay Paris’ ~ Who’s being childish: The two 11-year-old boys from a private elite elementary school who duke it out on the playground, or their parents who go at it over coffee, rum and clafouti? Audiences will soon discover that adults can be anything but civil and calm in the Two Muses Theatre production of God of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza.
The play opens, following the playground altercation, at the swanky Brooklyn apartment of Parents #1, Veronica and Michael Novak (played by Diane Hill and Joe Bailey). Enter Parents #2 Annette and Alan Raleigh (played by Heidi Bennett and Tobin Hissong) who have agreed to meet and discuss the situation rationally rather than “slaughter each other with insurance claims.” But as the evening progresses, hard truths and insecurities surface, pitting couple against couple, women against men, and even husband against wife. God of Carnage takes a painfully funny look at parents behaving worse than their kids.
