Gucci’s Detroit residence is 1274 Library Street. Showcasing a wide collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, jewelry, watches and Gucci Décor, the boutique spans over 3,500 square feet, blending the city’s historic architecture with the spirit of the luxury House of Gucci.

The boutique features restored glass tiles and geometric metalwork that is carried from the facade throughout the interior. Custom patterned monochrome floors mirror the geometric paneling, producing decorative three-dimensional effects harmoniously integrating with the cylindrical light fixtures. The result is a space that entices, surprises, and feels right at home in this developing section of the city. The building is also LEED-certified and features LED lighting to monitor and promote energy efficiency.

In celebration of its opening – during Detroit Month of Design – Gucci launched its second collaboration with Detroit designer, Tommey Walker, and his homegrown label DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY, by featuring patches on its Off the Grid collection.

Created to support House of Gucci’s vision for circular production, the Off the Grid Collection uses recycled, organic, bio-based, and sustainably sourced materials. The collection includes a baseball hat, backpack, and belt bag, sold exclusively at Gucci Detroit beginning September, 2022.

In honor of Gucci’s new home in the city, Gucci Changemakers commissioned poet and native Detroiter, jessica Care moore to pen an original poem reflecting the house of design’s mission within the city of Detroit. A stanza is hand painted on the façade of the Siren Hotel for the community to enjoy.

After identifying Detroit as a focus city for the Gucci North Americas Changemakers program in 2019, the house has worked toward stronger representation in the fashion industry through partnerships with local non-profit organizations, as well as supporting students from institutions such as Cass Tech High School. The brand also commissioned Jenn Nkiru’s film, Black To Techno (2019), which celebrates Techno as a Detroit-grown art form.
