Entry fee: Students and SC members have a reduced entry fee of $20, and $25 for all other artists.
The Scarab Club invites entries for an upcoming exhibition, titled Paperworks. The exhibition will feature works on paper (painting, drawing, print work, photography, silk screen, embossing, etc.), 2-and 3-D works (origami, quilling, hand-cast paper, sculpture), and mixed media works that incorporate paper. No works larger than 5′ x 5′.
Juror: Lynne Avadenka
Lynne Avadenka established Land Marks Press in 1981, purchased her Vandercook SP-15 proof press shortly after that and has used it to produce limited edition books and prints as well as experimental works on paper. Avadenka has been a part of the Detroit arts community for many years and in 2013 was named director of Signal-Return, a community letterpress print shop. In 2016 she was awarded a Career Achievement Award from the Department of Fine and Performing Arts of Wayne State University where she received her BFA and MAFA. Avadenka received a Kresge Fellowship in 2009 as well as individual artist grants from The National Endowment for the Arts and The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Residencies and teaching opportunities have taken place in Germany, Israel, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina and Oregon. Avadenka’s work is exhibited and collected internationally, including The British Library, London; The Detroit Institute of Arts; The New York Public Library; The Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; The Meermano Museum, The Hague, The Netherlands; The Watson Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
